It was an excellent weekend for bike racing, and Dingo Race Productions did a bang up job as usual. Check out the video to see the scene - the start, a couple finishers, and then everyone milling about to see results, compare notes, and wait for the podiums.
I love time trials. When they are over. It's not something I look forward to doing - usually starting a couple days beforehand I start anticipating having to push myself to the limit and hold it there. And then increasing it as the finish approaches, and then just dying across the line. Snot, sweat, pain.
It feels pretty great afterwards though. What a great workout.
At the beginning of this one I realized I'd forgotten my heart rate monitor strap at home, and that made for a tough ride. I had the times of last year's winner at 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 of the way, and at 1 mile from the finish taped to my handlebar to track how I would compare. I was pretty close on the first marker, but steadily lost time after that. Without the heart rate monitor it was tough to gauge effort.
I felt good about my time, but there were some really fast TT specialists out and they took the day. One of my teammates got on the podium, so not a bad day!
