This was my first time doing the Middle Georgia TT. It is in Perry, GA - a little south of Macon, a 1:45 drive from ATL. So a bit of a trek. This year it was part of the Georgia Championship Series, so anyone targeting a top spot for that this year was likely there this weekend.
I thought the event was well run. Registration was super fast.
I was a bit nervous about the course. The majority of it was the right lane on a four lane divided highway. But, I guess because traffic was stopped before going onto the course and likely explained what and how the TT was working, the traffic was quite respectful and there were no issues at all.
It was a pretty flat course except for an uphill finish. Wind wasn't really an issue. It was a flat course, good for the guys and gals who can stomp out the big watts and who have good aero equipment.
I'm not really sure what happened, but I was just not on point for this race. I forgot to put on my shoe covers. I felt kind of sluggish generally speaking. I didn't set up my Garmin with the fields I wanted, and at one point all the sensors on my bike shut off (power, HR, cadence - blank). I put out decent-ish power for me, but didn't gauge my effort well and was fighting with the bike up the incline at the end. It was just one of those bad race days. It happens!
I didn't have too much time to snap too many pics of the TT bikes, but here are a few that caught my eye - enjoy!
